About the Artist
Krista Lavonas, a semi-retired pediatrician and metalsmith hailing from Denver, Colorado has dedicated herself to mastering her craft with classes at various institutions including the Clear Creek Academy of Metalsmithing, Boulder Metalsmithing Association, and the New Approach Jewelry School, and many years of experimentation at her bench in her home studio in northeast Denver.
Drawing inspiration from the geological formations of the Earth and the beautiful mountain country surrounding her, Krista's creative process commences with the selection of gemstones or fossils. Her jewelry predominantly features sterling silver, elegantly paired with these distinctive stones, resulting in pieces that exude both elegance and ruggedness. With each meticulously hand fabricated piece, Krista seeks to capture the essence of the Earth's natural beauty, inviting wearers to adorn themselves with a tangible connection to the minerals and metals that inspire her.
The majority of Krista's medical career has been spent working in a safety net clinic in Denver. She feels strongly that she needs to continue to contribute to non-profits that partner with institutions like the one she has worked in to serve Denver families. Five percent of purchases are donated each year to these non-profits. You can check our current partner on the Charitable Partners page.
